More random car spotting in France. These cars were waiting to meet two different newlywed couples as multiple weddings were happening in different churches in the same square. Apparently it was wedding day in Arles.
Of course my trip to one of the oldest and most complete medieval cities in Europe, Les Baux de Provence, I would stumble upon, a classic car rally. This was a nice treat for sure as I had never seen, or heard of, some of the machines before. Unfortunately the owners only spoke French, and my French is limited to childhood lessons from Pepé Le Pew, but we were still able to understand each other through exchanges of thumbs up signs and smiles. Très bien!
All right, we have a winner. Of all the forbidden-fruit cars I’ve seen here in Spain, the Mercedes CLA Shooting brake, AMG of course, is the one I would possibly harvest an organ for. This car, this color, and the CLA45 AMG snarling 421HP turbo 4-cylinder under the hood is maybe my perfect daily driver. I’ve seen a few of these around and I love them, they are a perfect blend of sport, practicality, and style. If this was available in the US, I’d be trading my GTI and maybe the Boxster in on one, no doubt!
One of the best aspects of my European adventure is the car we are using to drive ourselves through Spain, France, and Italy. Through an awesome program from Car-2-Europe, we are “leasing” a new (4 km at delivery) Peugeot 308 hatchback. It’s a great program that I will cover in more detail on my blog, but it’s a fantastic way to rent a car for a long, multi-country trip. It may not be the hottest version they make, but it’s got great tech, good seats, plenty of cargo room, and a 6-speed manual. I’ll be posting more as the trip continues.
This is, apparently, appropriate street parking in Valencia. I know so many PCA members and Porsche owners who would cringe at the thought, which is why I didn’t take any photos of the doors 😣 There were so many door dings it looked like it has done duty as a target at Top Golf. The bright side is that this person is enjoying their 996 cab everyday in a gorgeous seaside city. 👍🏻
